As an animal advocate seeing distressed and displaced animals is so heartbreaking. My heart aches for them and their owners.
Many of us are not living in Texas, and might feel helpless in not knowing how we can help all the animals, not just pets, of this horrible disaster. Texas is a farm land and there are many horses, cows, pigs, etc affected by this hurricane.
Before I became a stay at home Mom, I worked as a Veterinary Technician, for the non profit organization, Best Friends Animal Society.
I still am in contact with many of my previous co workers and am not surprised with how much love, time, and effort they are putting towards the displaced animals.
Best Friends Animal Society has sent down a team to Texas to help the animals, and deliver supplies to the shelters. They have even transported some of the shelter pets back up to Utah shelters.
If you are able to help in any way possible; by donating money, volunteering, purchasing items on their wish list (supplies, food, etc), or even sharing this information with others, to spread the awareness of how anyone can help.
